What Does WIC Offer?    Who is eligible for WIC     Apply for WIC     Program Overview

WIC is a nutrition program that helps pregnant women, new mothers and young children eat well, learn about good nutrition and stay healthy. To read more about good nutrition check out our resources page.

WIC Services include:

    • Nutrition information specific to you

     Checks to buy free, healthy food

    • Tips for eating well to improve health

     Referrals for medical and dental care, health insurance, childcare, housing,

fuel assistance and other services that can help the entire family

     Immunization screening and referrals

     Breastfeeding support and breastfeeding supplies such as manual and electric

breastpumps

     Nutrition information on a variety of topics including:

        —Maintaining a healthy weight

        —Meal planning

        —Label reading

        —Picky Eaters

        —Caring for a new baby

        —Shopping on a budget

 

Population Served
Women who are; pregnant, postpartum (up to six months), breastfeeding and infants

or children under 5 years of age with nutritional needs. Families must meet household

income guidelines. Parents, guardians, and/or foster parents may apply for their children.

Families on ATAP, Food Stamps, Medicaid, or whose child(ren) receive free or reduced-

price lunches are automatically eligible for WIC.

Referral Process
Call the WIC Office to make a screening appointment. WIC has three convenient

locations for you to choose between: Fairbanks, Fort Wainwright, or

Eielson Air Force Base.
