I’ve read some interesting articles recently. One questioned why national politicians limit their support for children’s issues to the fact that they “love children” and never raise the specter of child abuse and neglect. The other article mentioned that we, as individuals, families, and communities across the nation, spend our money on those things that we value most: a roof over our heads, food to eat, medical insurance….

What does our spending show that we value most?

I bring these up to illustrate only one point. You, our community, show us what you value most. Through your support of RCPC you show us that you care about children at high risk for child abuse and neglect. It shows us that you care about families of all cultures and all income levels, from all walks of life. And it shows us that you care about our agency, our programs, and our services to children and families in the Interior.

Many of the families we serve often find it difficult to get support from anywhere else. Your support, through our special events like the upcoming 15th Annual TIPS for Kids or the Holiday Adopt-A-Family program, provides needed support for these families. Your support gives us many reasons to think that you value the work that we do and the families with whom we work.

Your support matters to us. It matters to the families we serve. It matters to the volunteers who work with us. And it matters to businesses who want to know that we truly do represent the community.

As our annual giving campaign mailing goes out in the next week or so, we are offering you an opportunity to put your money where your heart is. Become a partner in our efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect. Your gift to us during this campaign will help us promote positive and nurturing environments for children at-risk for abuse and neglect, educate and support parents who want to change poor parenting behaviors, and offer resources and positive parenting techniques to all community members. Show your friends and neighbors that you truly do care about them and families all over our community.
